Truck driver, long haul (NOC 73300)

Crosspoint Cartage & Storage Ltd is hiring 3 full-time, permanent Long Haul Truck Drivers (NOC 73300) based out of Langley, British Columbia. EMPLOYER: Crosspoint Cartage & Storage Ltd LOCATION: Langley, BC V4W 3Y3 WORK LOCATION: On the road. Work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required from the employee. WAGE: $39.00 hourly / 50 to 60 hours per week TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent employment, Full time START DATE: Starts as soon as possible VACANCIES: 3 OVERVIEW Languages: English Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years RESPONSIBILITIES - TASKS - Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions - Mountain driving expertise - Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy - Load and unload goods - Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials - Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment - Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle - Perform preventive maintenance - Receive and relay information to central dispatch - Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption CREDENTIALS Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Driver's License (Class 1 or A) EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZATION Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports; Bill of lading; Driver logbook; Inspection report (pre-trip, en route, post-trip); Maintenance and repair reports; Trip reports Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated; Tractor-trailer Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment; Trip recorder (on-board computer) Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul; Short-haul ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills; Team player EMPLOYMENT GROUPS This employer promotes equal employment opportunities for all job applicants, including those self-identifying as a member of these groups: Support for newcomers and refugees; Supports for visible minorities.
